We were sent a Craig's List advertisement for a blind appaloosa and we were so touched and the photograph broke our hearts so initially we posted it to see if we could find Sierra Mist a good home. After chasing down several leads we were sure somebody would take her and there was a deadline looming so we took her to get her safe while we continued looking for a home for her When she got to us though we realised she was such a special horse that although she isn't a mustang she needed to stay here Sierra is completely blind but is smart as a button and manages to get around her paddock with the help of her new friend Sarge who helps her as her seeing eye horse.
Sarge loves his pasture by the barn and had never wanted anyone to share it with him even though we tried putting several different mares with him, he would push them off food and eventually chase them away. But when we put Sierra in with him he was a changed horse. He is tender, sweet and even shares his hay which is unheard of from the grumpy old boy. Somehow horses know and feel so deeply and Sarge rose to the occasion for Sierra like the champ we knew he was.
These are just a few of the Mustangs we have brought to the ranch, there are so many more that need a safe environment to live in.
Check back soon and meet other rescued horses and please donate to help us save more mustangs. Over 150,000 American horses are shipped to Mexico and Canada every year and killed in the most inhumane and brutal painful way imaginable - stop the slaughter by lobbying your congressmen to Pass The SAFE ACT......
