SECRETARY - JON KASIK

As ranch manager at Skydog Sanctuary there is nobody better qualified to sit on its board.   Jon has proven himself to be the most experienced person to help make the day to day decisions about the care of our rescued horses and running of the ranch.  We do not take a new horse without consulting with all of the amazing staff at Skydog and also run it past the board to make sure that everybody is in agreement that we are able to accommodate another rescue.  It takes a team of people to run a sanctuary of this size and no one person should have total say about any of the countless decisions that have to be made every day so it is a great asset to have a ranch manager also sit on the board to debate on and vote on each action.  More than any other quality for a board member to possess Jon's love and caring for the horses is the most important.

VP/TREASURER - Johnny buc lockwood

John Lockwood has been working in the non-profit world for many years after founding Club 42 which helps inner city kids in Los Angeles have access to baseball fields.  The kids from Club 42 have spent days volunteering at Skydog Sanctuary as well as participating in Equine Therapy programs run by our Sanctuary in Malibu.   Johnny brings a huge wealth of experience to our Board as well as some incredible donors and supporters.

Johnny regularly visits the horses at Skydog Malibu and was instrumental in finding the right ranch when we were looking at properties. He and his dog Sacha are a feature at the ranch and very involved in the overview of how to make this sanctuary even more successful and therefore able to rescue even more wild horses as well as raise awareness and educate.

Dr. Katie prince DVM - Board member

Dr. Prince has been Skydog's vet for over five years.  She is the most incredible resource and a hugely knowledgeable vet for the horses in our care.  Katie has come out rain or shine, and many times after hours or at weekends to tend to equine emergencies.  She is always available and recommended that we use Bend Equine locally in Oregon for our horses here who have proven to be just as incredible a team as the one she runs.  We are delighted to have her equine knowledge and experience on our Board.  We have learned so much about equine health and medicine from Dr. Prince and continue to consult her regarding ongoing horse care at our sanctuary.
