grace and sunshine
We got a call from the BLM asking us whether we could take in an orphan foal from a recent roundup who had been found on the range without a mother. We drove up to pick the foal up and came home with four orphaned foals and one mare foal pair in Grace and Sunshine. This mare was gathered from the range skinny and weak and her baby was lethargic and unable to nurse from her mother. Seeing them in the pens made us so sad and miraculously Grace had been rounded up as a two year old and re-released so we knew she was 24 and didn’t stand much chance of being adopted at that age being as wild as she was.
Little Sunshine also had an umbilical hernia which needed surgery so we had thirty days to gentle her and get her ready to travel to Bend Equine for her operation. She was such a good girl and went through the surgery with flying colors and now mama and baby have been turned out with Goliath and family to make a bigger herd and family. They are doing incredibly well and Bodhi finally has a playmate his own age and think he has fallen madly in love with this little filly. What a happy story for them all x
These are just a few of the Mustangs we have brought to the ranch, there are so many more that need a safe environment to live in.
