Louisa was a killpen save rescued on Christmas Eve. She was sent to us numerous times during the day and suddenly the thought of her standing in that killpen at Christmas seemed to touch all of us. 2019 is our big push to get the SAFE Act passed so we had already voted to do a couple more saves to raise awareness and get people motivated to take action. We posted her photos not thinking anyone would respond much due to it being Christmas Eve but somehow she seemed to embody the true spirit of the holidays and we were so overwhelmed with the response and generosity that we were also able to bail her friend Star.
Due to her having been starved and being so skinny Jon and I travelled to Texas to get her ourselves so that we could oversee every part of the haul and make sure she was doing well. Although she was skinny she wasn’t weak and seemed so thrilled to jump on our trailer to freedom. She has had so much energy and fight since arriving to Malibu she amazes everyone who meets her. We adore her and are so grateful to all the people who stepped up at Christmas to get her home to us. Louisa is named after my mother who passed away Christmas day and her rescue is forever dedicated to my wonderful mummy who gave me such a love of horses and was so proud of all we have achieved in helping so many of them.
These are just a few of the Mustangs we have brought to the ranch, there are so many more that need a safe environment to live in.
Check back soon and meet other rescued horses and please donate to help us save more mustangs. Over 150,000 American horses are shipped to Mexico and Canada every year and killed in the most inhumane and brutal painful way imaginable - stop the slaughter by lobbying your congressmen to Pass The SAFE ACT......
