BLUE
We were sent a video from a Facebook follower showing Blue being ridden around a parking lot very roughly - running on concrete and all we could see is how hard she was trying to do the right thing as her mouth was yanked on and she was spurred on. All the board members were called and we decided unanimously to save her. She is a gorgeous mare with the most amazing blue eyes and is so willing and eager to please. She is the calmest horse who never reacts to being bossed about by other horses.
Today, Blue lives in Oregon, where she is the apple of more than one eye. When Vegas passed away, leaving Read alone, we needed to find a new companion for him. We led different mares by his pen, but Blue was the only one to grab his attention. When we opened the gate so they could meet, she scampered into the green grass with an infatuated Read right behind her. She’s as good for him as he is for her.
Their next door neighbor is Boomer, who is an insatiable flirt, but not the kind of guy to make a commitment. He loves to go to the fence and make sweet talk to Blue, which is all the more fun because it annoys Read. Blue had not been particularly bonded in her previous band. Now she is the center of attention. With devoted Read beside her, and an exciting cad on the other side of the fence, she is thoroughly enjoying this living arrangement.

It only takes a few minutes to contact your Rep and Senators and urge them to support these bills:
Save America’s Forgotten Equines (SAFE) Act of 2023 (H.R. 3475 in the House / S.2307 in the Senate). This bill will shut down the slaughter pipeline that sends some 20,000 American horses and donkeys to savagely monstrous deaths in foreign slaughterhouses every year.
The Wild Horse & Burro Protection Act of 2023 (H. R. 3656) This bill will prohibit the use of helicopters or fixed-wing aircraft in the management of wild mustangs and burros on public lands, and require a report on humane alternatives to current management practices.
Ejiao Act of 2023 (H.R. 6021). To ban the sale or transportation of ejiao, a gelatin made from boiling donkey skins, or products containing ejiao in interstate or foreign commerce, which brutally kills millions of donkeys primarily for beauty products and Chinese medicine.
