GOLIATH

Goliath is a 27 year old band stallion who lived his whole life on the wild range in Wyoming.  We had followed him in the wild for years and were devastated when he was rounded up in a BLM gather in October 2017.  We asked for him to be re-released but our request was denied and we were then shocked when he appeared on an internet adoption event in January.  We decided that he should not be domesticated or spend the rest of this life in a tiny space - he was just too magnificent and special and BIG a mustang.  We agreed to the hundreds of requests we received to give him sanctuary.  We started a fundraiser and so many people stood up to donate for him and to bring him back to lands similar to the ones he roamed when free.

While we waited for the internet adoption a wonderful woman in Colorado told us she had Goliath's lead mare from the wild called Red Lady and she wanted her to be reunited with her Goliath.  The BLM granted us a reassignment and she travelled to us.  We won the internet adoption for Goliath and the incredible moment they reunited was captured in a small movie we made which had been seen by millions of people now thanks to The Dodo and our short film.  Goliath and Red Lady had their last foal together Bodhi in March 2018 and he is now living happily wild and free with his parents at Skydog Oregon.

Mustangs & Burros Need your help

In addition to supporting our work by donating, becoming a patron on Patreon, or sponsoring a Skydog, there are several important pieces of legislation to protect American equines currently moving through Congress. It only takes a few minutes to contact your Rep and Senators and urge them to support these bills:

Save America’s Forgotten Equines (SAFE) Act of 2023 (H.R. 3475 in the House / S.2307 in the Senate). This bill will shut down the slaughter pipeline that sends some 20,000 American horses and donkeys to savagely monstrous deaths in foreign slaughterhouses every year.

The Wild Horse & Burro Protection Act of 2023 (H. R. 3656) This bill will prohibit the use of helicopters or fixed-wing aircraft in the management of wild mustangs and burros on public lands, and require a report on humane alternatives to current management practices.

Ejiao Act of 2023 (H.R. 6021). To ban the sale or transportation of ejiao, a gelatin made from boiling donkey skins, or products containing ejiao in interstate or foreign commerce, which brutally kills millions of donkeys primarily for beauty products and Chinese medicine.

You can Contact Members of Congress by calling the Capitol Switchboard (202) 224-3121‬, submitting contact forms on their individual websites, or sending one email to all three simultaneously at www.democracy.io
